Public Wedding in Senmaida

It’s that time of year again…Come witness not one but two traditional Japanese weddings in what is perhaps the most photographed spot in the Noto, Wajima’s own Senmaida rice fields, on Sunday, September 19.

Every year, two lucky couples win a lottery to be able to hold their wedding in this picturesque spot by the sea. The ceremony is open to the public and people come from all over to check it out.

Immediately following the wedding, students and members of the community begin harvesting the rice at Senmaida, so don’t miss your last chance of the year to see it before it all gets cut down. Anyone who’s interested in joining in on the slicing and dicing is welcome to jump in and lend a hand!
