Event for Japanese Children Who Have Studied Abroad

This guest post is by Robert, a CIR in Kanazawa.

Hello JETs!

Hope you’re enjoying the slightly warmer weather after all the
snow we got.

Later this month I will be holding Around the World and Back, an event for Japanese children (elementary and middle school students) who have had experience living abroad and speak fairly fluent English. The purpose of the event is to give the kids an opportunity to speak English with a native speaker. This time, we will be playing Monopoly, as well as having an official “English chat time” at the end. Snacks will be served as well.

The reason why I am sending this mail out to everyone is that in previous
events, two or three families had their children participate, however, this
time, only one family has responded to the email we sent out to all previous
participants. We have also posted an English flier to our website and
submitted an ad to the newspaper, but so far we have not received any more
responses.

So, I am kindly asking any ALTs or CIRs (who live reasonably close to Kanazawa) who know of any families with children who have had experience living abroad to please approach them about possibly participating in the event.

The event will take place on Feb. 20, 2011, from 10:30-12:00, on the second floor of Rifare in Kanazawa.

I appreciate any help you can provide.

Many thanks,
Robert
