This year’s annual 穴水町雪中ジャンボかきまつり (Anamizu Jumbo Oyster Festival in the Snow) will take place on January 30-31, 2010. For 1000 yen, you can get a bag of oysters to grill on the outdoor charcoal grills. There will also be a variety of other foods to enjoy. This year, the festival is going to be twice as big as last year’s and will include yosakoi, taiko, musical performances and karaoke as well.
January 30 (Saturday) 10:00-16:00
January 31 (Sunday) 9:00-15:00
Asunaru Plaza on the Anamizu Bay (near Anamizu Town Hall)
The location is in red; the town hall is in blue. The site is between the big bridge by the 大町東 (Ohmachi higashi) stoplight and the bridge that goes to the 役場 town hall. Currently, there is a huge blue structure raised on the site, which looks out to the bay.
Drive to Central Anamizu on the 1, the 249, or take the Anamizu exit on the Noto Yuuryou 能登有料. The site is in central Anamizu.
Bus: Take the Hokutetsu Bus from Kanazawa (bus stop #1 on the East Exit of Kanazawa Station, 1880 yen) OR from Wajima Station (400 yen) to 穴水此の木 (Anamizu Kuronogi). (This stop has four bus stops in a central location, so make sure you know which one you’re taking back!). This bus stop is on the far side of town by the Dontaku and Komeri; it’s a 20 minute walk toward central Anamizu.
Train: This is slightly more expensive, but will get you much closer to the location. Take the Noto Railbus (能登レールバス）from Nanao to Anamizu, which is the last stop. (810 yen from Nanao; 1940 yen from Kanazawa on Nanao-bound JR line with a transfer in Nanao.) Walk about 10 minutes toward the 大町東 (Ohmachi higashi) stoplight and cross the bridge after the stoplight. You should be able to see it from there.
