Have some beautiful photos of Ishikawa lying around? Why not help out Ishikawa Prefecture and get your photos published in a calendar and pamphlets, helping to advertise our beautiful prefecture! In addition to getting to say you’ve been published, you will also receive tickets for two at an accommodation within Ishikawa.
The contest is a joint event put on by Ishikawa Prefecture and TripAdvisor (a travel website). You can submit your photos (and help out with voting for the winning entries) through the TripAdvisor website.
This contest is aimed at foreigners, so use your tourist’s eye to find what will appeal to other foreigners! They’re looking for photos of cityscapes, tourist sites, landscapes, performance arts, traditional culture, festivals, or anything with a seasonal flavor. You know what a great photo looks like.
There are 3 separate competitions taking place, and 3 winners will be selected from each competition (which makes a total of 9 winners, for those of you who have an aversion to math).
1st contest: August 1 – September 30th
2nd contest: October 1 – December 31st
3rd contest: January 1, 2010 – February 28, 2010
Good luck! Don’t let those photos go to waste.
(edited to add: I just submitted a few photos, and the process is a little confusing if you don’t know what to expect. You’ll need to sign up for a TripAdvisor account — it’s free — and then log in under that account before you try to submit the photos, otherwise your photos won’t be submitted properly. Once you’re logged in, do a search for “Ishikawa” and then choose the “Ishikawa Prefecture” option. On the right side you’ll see a little button that says “Add Photo”. Click on that and they’ll have instructions on how to submit a photo. After you submit your photos, you won’t be able to see them on the TripAdvisor site immediately. You’ll get an email saying that they’re being reviewed before they’re posted to the website. Good luck!)
